SARS-CoV-2 Novel Coronavirus

On aircraft hygiene, cabin disinfection and the coronavirus

Let’s start with some reassuring words: It is indisputable that caution is advised in these times troubled with the coronavirus, but passengers should not get overly worried. Although the circumstances are extraordinary, airlines are well prepared and most of all, have strict procedures in place on how to handle epidemics and pandemics, such as the current coronavirus outbreak.

“It goes without saying that Aero-Sense, as your reliable partner in aviation chemicals, offers an effective and certified product for cabin disinfection.”

Aviation approved

To continue the positive note of this article, of course airlines do not just use any available effective disinfection product. It’s of paramount importance that all disinfectants used for cabin cleaning must be aircraft component compatible. They must not have any negative effects on aircraft parts or the structure of the aircraft. Only aviation certified products should be used. Aerospace Materials Specifications (AMS) and manufacturers approvals guarantee that the chemicals used will not harm or corrode the interior surfaces of the aircraft.

Cabin Disinfectant

Aero-Sense Cabin Disinfectant

It goes without saying that Aero-Sense, as your reliable partner in aviation chemicals, offers an effective and certified product for cabin disinfection. It has, quite conveniently, been named Aero-Sense Cabin Disinfectant and is both AMS 1452B and Boeing D6-7127 certified for use in aircraft cabins.

Additionally, we offer various other certified cabin cleaning chemicals, like our Cabin Cleaner, Carpet Cleaner, Avionics Cleaner and Avionics Wipes, Flushman Lavatory Additive, etc.

Effectiveness of disinfection products

Although some manufacturers of disinfection products make bold statements on the effectivity of their cleaning products against the coronavirus or advertise in debatably misleading ways, no products have effectively been tested against SARS-CoV-2 (novel coronavirus) yet.

It is too soon to have any conclusive results on the efficacy of currently available disinfection products against the current coronavirus. However, SARS-CoV-2 (novel coronavirus) is part of a group of viruses, of which SARS and MERS are also part. These other strains have been around a little longer, so it has been possible to conduct tests on these viruses. Therefore, it can be assumed that disinfectants which are proven to work against other strains of coronaviruses, will also be effective against the current coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2. But the jury is still out.
